I have an Asus V9280, 128 meg, TI 4200. This morning I got up, turned on
monitor as usual, nothing on screen, then said off mode in 5 seconds.
Restart, windows goes as far as the win XP screen then goes black, off mode
in 5 seconds again, restart in safe mode and it all comes up, check
everything in systems, all is fine, check vid card and see that fan is not
spinning. Now questions are, if it is just the fan not working, would normal
mode windows not work but safe mode work? Is it just a matter of swapping
fans? Is the fan supposed to run all the tame on this card?

If it works in safe mode without the drivers then the drivers is where I
would look. If you have a spare video card, I would try this too just in
case your ASUS card is rooted. I suspect the latter.

Well, went over to neighbors house, got 2 AGP vid cards, and one PCI, one
AGP wouldn't fit, and the other two did nothing, no screen activity, took a
fan off a heat sink and put it on to replace my vid cards burnt up one,
still the same, I can run in safe mode but that's it. Could I have damaged
the Mb when vid card fan died? Neighbor was sure the PCI one works, going
over again today to try my vid card in one of his comps. if it does same to
his computer then I will bring his vid card that is running in his now home
and try.

You must have the absolute nicest neighbor in the world.
