Hi all

I am working on my daughters pc which is an old AV7133 board with a AMD 1.4
cpu.............have put xp on with sp2 , but every time it boots it tells
"found new hardware " .....Via bus master drivers needed. I have put the
win98 drivers that came with the board...............and the hyperon 4 in 1
drivers from the Via arena site but no joy ........still get the message .
Are there any of these drivers avalible for xp ?

thanks

If you have winxp, no via drivers are needed at all.
The hardware that gets detected must be something else, f.ex onboard sound ,
promise RAID-controller or something else that you have installed.

you have to watch which drivers U dl...being that old a motherboard make
sure ..you want "retro" which are on the bottom of page..but also like the
other posting said..you shouldn't need to install them from a fresh XP
install.

Hi

Thx for your replys.........but im in the dark , the pc wants these drivers
, i know you say i should not have to install with XP ......i will try the
retro ones and let you know. Thx again.

You could try at some MS or Windows and XP Newsgroups.
Your troubles seems OS related.

Try to remove any "nonpresent devices" in the device manager
(ide-entries), restart, and then removing the present IDE --- restart
and pointing to the standard XP IDE (VIAIDE.SYS) Drivers. Normally the
OS should take VIAIDE.SYS from the XP driverpool, automatically.

You should find Info about activating "devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices".
I use XP in German, I am sure you can find any further info in the
Internet.

The feature is not enabled by default!

All you need to do to show "Non-Present Devices", is to edit-in the
following line to your AutoExec.bat file:

set DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1

Then after a reboot you'll be able to see them, as dimmed icons, in
Device Manager when you select Show Hidden Devices under the View tab.

It is possible for me to remove the Via bus master from the IDE/ATA/ATAPI
controllers in device manager ?
