No, I don't know that.
My fault. I should have been thinking 'more exact'. I've never been
interested in Duron, so I don't know much about it. So I should never
have written 'newer Durons'. It just slipped out on the assumption that
AMD have moved on Duron to newer dies. Via says: "DuronT Processors"
which I take to mean that it does indeed support that. They don't tell
us explicitly what it doesn't support.
My emphasis and reason for my post was to look at what the _mobo_ claims
to support, not chipset or bios. Prompted by an audacious experimenter
recently frying his new cpu on an old mobo.

Actually, the KT133 won't properly support the newest Durons (Applebred
core) as they run on a 133Mhz (266Mhz DDR) FSB and the KT133 only supports
100Mhz (200mhz DDR) FSB's. The KT133 will support running the memory
asyncroniously to the FSB at 133Mhz (no DDR memory support in the KT133)
but that's as far as it goes with respect to the KT133's 133Mhz support.
Applebred core Durons come in speeds of 1.4 through 1.6Ghz.
Motherboards with the KT133 may or may not support the second generation
Durons (Morgan core) for whatever reason. Morgan core Durons all use a
100Mhz FSB but the motherboard manufacturer simply may not have made a
BIOS that will properly recognize the CPU or the reason for lack of
support may be more complex, like the MB may have trouble supplying the
required power to the newer CPU's. Morgan core Durons run from 900Mhz to
1.3Ghz
All KT133 based motherboards will (should anyway) support first gen.
Durons (Spitfire core). They run from 600Mhz to 900Mhz (I think, maybe
they went up to 950Mhz?)
I've got no idea what VIA is referring to with the "T" designations, it's
nothing I've ever heard of in reference to AMD CPU's but there may be
someone here more knowledgeable about that subject than I who can
enlighten us.
As far as Athlon support goes, most KT133 based MB's will support most
100Mhz FSB, socket A Athlons. Those are the Thunderbird core chips.
Thunderbird based Athlons were also made with 133Mhz FSB's from 1Ghz on
so you will need to know what processor you have and what your motherboard
will support. Thunderbird Athlons came in 650Mhz to 1.4Ghz variations.
Newer Athlons (Palomino, Thoroughbred A/B and Barton) will not be supported
due to the higher FSB's they use (133-200Mhz).
There are some hardware hacks to allow the use of newer, high FSB CPU's in
older, low FSB KT133 based motherboards but that's not what I'd call
"supported" it's just something that a dedicated person who is
knowledgeable and interested enough to make the "unsupported" combinations
work. IF you look up Wes Newel (apologies if spelled incorrectly) you will
find someone who has got such a combination working.
A site you may find useful for identifying your CPU is:
http://www.thedigerati.us/info/amdcpuchart.html
As far as your MB's CPU support, you should be able to find something on
the manufacturers web site.
Good Luck,
Nate
