VHS to DVD- to Movie Maker

I have transferred some old VHS tapes onto DVD- discs. I had hoped to be
able to pull parts of them into MM for editing, but it appears that the DVD-
files are not recognized by MM. Any suggestions? I can re-record them into
other media if necessary, but would prefer not to do that.

You can "rip" the videos off the DVD's.
