Not really enough information given here as to your current hardware
capabilities so I'll give several scenarios...

If you have a digital camcorder, it probably has an analog input. Connect
the VCR to the camcorder.... There will be a yellow output on the VCR which
will connect via a composite cable to the digital camcorder. You'll also
need audio which is the red and white composite cable on the VCR to a
minijack audio in on the camcorder. Set the camcorder in Line In mode and
you'll be able to capture your analog video on the digital camcorder.

Once it's captured, you can then connect the digital camcorder to the PC and
capture the (now) digital video to the PC.

If you don't want to use the digital camcorder 'in the middle' you will
probably need some kind of analog hardware capture card on your PC. Then
you will connect the VCR to the analog hardware capture device and capture
the analog video to the PC direct.

Take a look at the PVR cards from Hauppage - a PCI add-on card that has a TV/Radio built in

You can connect your analog VCR to the card in your computer and watch/record your show

You can buy a digital video converter. There's a product line called Dazzle, now owned by Pinnacle Software and I've also seen generic brands of this same type of device. There's one called USB Instant Video by ADS Technologies. I use the Dazzle, but couldn't get the ADS one to install on my computer. Either way, it's a small device that plugs into your USB port with connections for RCA plugs from your analog VHS camcorder or VCR. I had to also buy a RCA to mini-plug adapter to plug the audio part of the RCA plug directly into my sound card in order to capture the audio with the video

What's an *RCA* plug?
Is it what I would call a *Phono plug*?
(The sort of co-axial plug that fits *tape out*on an amplifier for example)

We used to call them that too over here in the USA, back when we had
phonographs.

Ok, thanks,
It is as U thought then.
(We call them Phono plugs in the UK) :-)

I use Pinnacle Studio 8 Delux to do this. This package includes an analog input board with a breakout box to which you can connect a VHS VCR or Camera.
