I have been using the Vexira Antivirus Rescue Disk System running it
off 4 floppy disks. I have been trying to update the program off of an
additional floppy disk. The additional floppy disk has the vdf.aa and
vdf.ab files. When I select the option number 6 to update it scans the
floppies and says there is no update file. Has anyone used this
program and tried to update it. Maybe I am missing something. I tried
to write to their technical support but got no answer. Any help would
be appreciated.

Thanks!

As far as I can recall the update worked when I tried the Cd version,
but this was some time ago now. Never tried the floppy version. Have
you tried redownload the update files (right click and save, *not*
open)? Tried to put them on a fresh/new floppy, try format it first?

My next suggestions was going to be - if you can hear the floppy disk
being read when it is searching for the update files... I was going to
ask this in case the system could not find your floppy disk, but
obviously the system can - since you installed/ran it from floppy in
the first place...

Ps: if no go, maybe better luck with replies from somone who has
recently used or is currently using the floppy version if
you try in <alt.comp.anti-virus>.

All the best,

You mean plural, as in two floppy disks, vdf.aa on the first, vdf.ab
on the second, right? Last time I checked both did not fit on a single
floppy (given standard 1.44M High Density format that is). See readme
file found on floppy (second I think, I just peeked inside the
archive/image files)
<partial quote>
If the vexira.vdf file is too large to fit on a single floppy,
it is possible to split it into two files (vdf.aa and vdf.ab).
The Vexira Rescue Disk System will recognize these as vexira.vdf
parts and reconstruct the vexira.vdf file.

Thanks again Bjorn for your help. I have tried to put the vexira.cdf
file on one floppy that I formatted to 1.67 megs. I also tried placing
the vexira.aa on one floppy and the vexira.ab file on another. Nothing
seems to work. I am following the directions from the website. I also
tried to write to them with no answer back. It is a good program and
scans very well but I am giving up on this one too. I am going to
stick with F-Prot Anti-Virus, it seems to be the best alternative for
dos. If you find any info out please remember my post for as long as
it is retained on the server.

Thanks again
