Mozart MI

hi guys,
i have a problem, recently i re-install my WinXP pro, because it likes
to crash and one day when i boot it, it tells me to reinstall.
for the sake of my old files, i installed it to a different folder
(C:\windows.000), after the install is a wrap.
i do "Take ownership" for my old files, because it wont open
unless i do so. but there's still a problem, theres a couple
of folders that has a green coloured text for the names
and the file names are also coloured in green.
these folders and files cant be open Even after i change
the owner from the "old me" to the "new me".
can somebody please help??

Mozart,

the green indicates that the file has been encrypted. You should be able to un-encrypt the file if you you can log in as the administrator of this machine under the administrator account and then take ownership of the file.

Hi

Sorry, this will not work for two reasons:

1. For WinXP, Administrator is not a DRA by default as in Win2k.

2. And even if Administrator had been a default DRA, the OP has
made an new OS installation after the encryption of the files,
so this new Administrator user would not be a valid DRA for
the old files.
