Very strange printer behavior

Hello!

A2K/A2K2

I designed a report and all was well when printing it to one of two
different lasers (different manufacturers).

Some changes were made. The report prints fine on one of the two
original lasers. On the second of the two original lasers, the
graphics show but NO TEXT.

The report was printed on a third laser - no apparent problems.

Because I am a glutton for punishment, I printed on an inkjet.
Disregarding the margin issue, the report printed the text but NO
GRAPHICS!

Anyone have any similar experience or knowledge of what's happening
and how to fix it???

Thanks!
Al

I'm guessing that the problem with the ink jet was that the printer driver
was set for "draft", "ink saving", or similar mode.

As far as the second laser printing the graphics and not the text, did you
exceed the memory of the printer? Are there settings in the driver to tell
it how much memory the printer has? What changes were made between when it
worked and didn't work? Are you using printer fonts or downloading the fonts
as soft fonts? I have seen things like this (about 10 years ago) when the
video driver and printer driver weren't compatible. Usually updating them
solved the problem.

All ink jet settings nornal - no economy settings made.

I really don't think it is a memory problem (the ink jet has 10M)
since all lasers worked before the "design change."

Changes were minor, we think - but we are back tracking. 2 of 3
lasers still work correctly - one no longer does but did, so video
driver is not suspect; fonts resident on machines. Again, everything
worked at one time and we are pursuing the "design" change.

Thanks for your help so far.
