Dear Group,

I own a epson stylus color 980, until yesterday ever perfect working.
I tryed to connect the usb port to my pc instead of the parallel because i
wanted to connect another printer on this parallel port.

After connecting and being recognised by the kernel (it is debian linux kernel
2.6.7) i tryed to send some text to the printer device, but no response.
I messed around a little sending some other text but the printer don't have
printed a line. (i've heard some special character should be sent to printer to
enable usb port...).

Then i simply switched off, reconnected the parallel port *exactly as before*
but from now on i cannot print correctly anymore.

If i now try to print text or images, the printing is puzzled/mixed and has ever
a jellow background, and after printing the color ink lamp starts blinking and i
can only fake changing color ink-tank to resume. But printing remains the same
confusion. Switching off or unplugging helpless. The printer is now unusable!

I am really confused, what could be happen? But most important: HOW CAN I
RESTORE CORRECT BEHAVIOUR? Perhaps some hard reset?

If somebody mind, i have scanned a piece of what the printer prints, and may
send or post it.

Thanks in advance for any advice or hint.

Ok, no ideas, somebody wants this printer cheap for spare parts or whatelse?

No very patient are you. You will need a different driver installation
for a USB connection. Turn off computer, pull the parallel plug, turn
on computer, uninstall the drivers.

For properly uninstalling and reinstalling go to www.coribright.com and
look for instructions to do this. For a USB installation the USB plug
is usually done as the last step to take.
