When I log onto XP it takes for ages for everything to load so that I can
use the PC.

Can someone give me some tips on what I can 'clear out' of the system to
increase the start up. As an example it used to take about 60 secs it now
takes nearly 4 mins before the PC is in a state that I can use it.

any tips are very much appreciated.
many thanks

Hi Phil,

I might be able to help you find out what is using all your computer's
resources at start-up, but I do not know how to fix it. I am having the
same problem.

When you re-boot, as soon as you can, open task manager and click on the
'processes' tab. Then click the column heading 'CPU' so that it sorts the
processes in order of how much they are using the CPU's capacity. I
wouldn't be surprised if you find 'DELLMMkb.exe' is the process that is
sucking up all the capacity the CPU can give. At least, that was what was
happening in my case. That is a program related to the multi-media
keyboard, and for some reason, it uses up the CPU's capacity on my computer
for a full two minutes after re-starting.

Once you find out what is taking so long to 'load up', place another post
here and you will likely get some advice as to the fix.

Regards,

Danno
