Very slow in opening a page

Hi,

I am in a LAN environment and running XP SP 2 with IE 6. The problem is,
whenever I type an address in the address bar and press Enter IE just sits
there and doesn't do anything. The status of the web page during this wait is
'Done'.

Then after 5-10 seconds the status changes to 'Opening page ......" and then
just opening the page takes another few seconds.

I looked in my add-ons and only found Adobe Acrobat add-ons which I disabled
but that did not help. There's also java and shockwave add-ons that I left
enabled.

Any ideas on why it initially takes 5-10 seconds to start opening the page?

Thanks for the help.

During my investigation I found that both of my DNS forwarders were not
functioning optimally. So, I got different Primary and Secondary DNS from my
service provider and now its working great.
