I am trying to enable a port on my Windows 2000 network (1005). This
port is linked to a static private IP address IP1. We do not have a
proxy server on my network. The router is maintained by our DSL
provider. They argue (on the phone) that the port mentioned before is
enabled. However, If I use superscan or any of the tools on the
internet, the port is not open. Our dsl provider says that is
something having to do with our LAN. What?. Should these ports be
enabled on the server side?. If so, how?. Can anybody provide me with
the steps to definitely enable this port?. Our lan is very simple. One
network server with 6 workstations.

Thanks

i think that the packet can be redirected to the ip you
designed and the port you designed... f.ex port 1000 in
the router to port 80 in yar inside server. Thats job of
your provider.. of coz.

Greetx.

As I know, application handle ports on computer (open, close etc).
If you have firewall, then you have to open/close ports to control traffic
on network.
Check ports in use (on your computer) with netstat command.
