Here is what happened: My screen can only support 1600x900 resolution,l but i
didnt know that and when experimenting, i changed it to 1600x1000, which
turned the screen black and displayed the message "out of range" or something
like that. I sat still for some minutes, expecting the system to restore the
previous resolution setting, as you know it does unless "YES, keep this
resolution" is pressed, but nothing happened. So now im online with my
Scientific Linux Live edition, asking for your assistance. How can i restore
my user resolution?

Log into Safe Mode and change the resolution to something low. Then log into
Regular Mode and set it to the correct resolution.

The other and maybe better option is to boot to the screen that allows safe
mode and select "Enable low-resolution video (640x480)" instead of safe mode
and the change the resolution back to what you want.

Ill try that, although im not so sure, cause i tried to change resolution in
safe mode, but rebooting back to my user, the resolution was still the same.
Does vista store safe mode and user resolutions separately?

It did not work! (changing the resolution in safe mode) the screen keeps
returning it to the set default 1600x1000.

Don't go in to safe mode . Select the other option of "Enable low-resolution
video (640x480)" instead.
