very new and in need of help

Hello i am very new to this forum i hope you can help me.

I am using word 2000 and i am new at setting up a document.

The problem i am having is this.

There is a field box where you can enter text into when i try and ente
text into it the box gets a line through it and the number i am tryin
to type in there goes to the outside of the box.

This is happening all over the document.

Any thoughts please.
