Very Long Deep Scan Time?

Adelphia

I was watching a deep scan progress and it seems that a very long time was
spent on the System Volume folder on my E:drive where Windows is installed.
I recently moved my Paging file to a faster drive (D:) and a System Volume
folder is now there as well. It seems to contain the most recent restore
point.

Is there a way to remove the old System Volume folder on the E: drive? Right
now with Administrator privileges Windows denies me access to the files.
However, on the new D: drive I can access the System Volume files ok. Since
there are 16.8gb absorbed by the System Volume on E: (previous location of
the Page File) I want to erase them & reduce my scan time but I am blocked
by the system - access denied??

Thanks,
Dick

Hello Adelphia,

Go to Start>Control Panel>System>Systemrestore
Mark Systemrestore off
Reboot and then put it on again but take a smaller amount on the drives
you want.

That's one way---and on XP, no reboot is needed. On Windows Millennium, the
reboot IS needed.

There's another, safer way.

Start, all Programs, Accessories, System tools, Disk cleanup

Select drive--let it scan, click More Options tab

Choose System Restore, and click cleanup.

This will remove all but the most recent restore point.
