Very Important Question About Accessing Another ComputerOn LAN

Hello All..

We are using Windows XP in our organization. We have a local domain and we all are joined with a domain. I am able to get into my friend's computer by using the following technique i.e

from run in start menu: \\friendcomputer

then by type \\friendcomputer\C$ in the address bar of windows explorer

I can get into even he hasn't shared anything and i don't know his password.

How could I stop any one from getting into my computer using the above technique on local area connection, i am afraid if somebuddy gets into my computer using the above method from internet.

Domain trusts anyone who can sign on to the domain. It is no different
than if you walked up to the keyboard and logged onto the PC there.

Open a cmd prompt, and type the following.
net localgroups administrators

You may see that all users in your domain are administrators of your
PC.

So, add yourself as the admin, and then delete the domain group as
being admin.

I haven't try that myself. Not sure what happens when you reboot.
There might be a group policy forcing back everyone as admin.
Just guessing.

Open a cmd prompt, asnd type the following.
net share

You may find that C$, D$, ADMIN$ are shared.
So, if you create A startup script to un-share these shares, other
users
in the domain may not be able to access your PC.

But there is still other ways other users can access your PC.
Google fpr "pstools", for example.
