"Very Low Memory" was an interesting thread for me. My problem is just
the opposite. I have 1GB of memory and the lowest I've seen it in "Task
Manager" has been 792MB Available. Running XP Pro and minimum
programs (Money, Works, VuePro, VLC Media Player, Internet) .
So, what would be the "best" settings for my memory "problem" ?? Use it
primarily for programs or cache ?? Any other suggestions would be
welcomed also. TIA

You don't have a problem. :)

The System Cache option is designed for Windows Server systems or systems
that are set up as file servers.

The Programs option is made for computers that run programs. The system
cache in XP is plenty large enough to handle whatever a typical system can
throw at it.

It may be that you have such a minimum installation that Windows XP can't
use all the memory. The programs and uses you list certainly don't need one
Gigabyte of memory, and if you don't change programs very often, nor have
many services running very little memory is required. A better parameter is
page file usage; if that is low, then you've more than enough memory, and
shouldn't worry about changing any settings.

On the other hand, you don't list any anti-malware programs in use; do you
have any?

Why would nearly a gig of not-used memory be a problem for you?

Let Windows manage your settings - don't mess with them.

It was just a simple question. Notice the word "problem" was in quotes.
