Andrea

I have read back about 10 pages of posts and have not
found the answer to my problem.

I have XP and so I have Windows Messenger. I don't have a
problem with this except that I prefer MSN Messenger 6.
I have looked all over and asked all the people I know
and I now know how to disable or even completely remove
Windows Messenger.

However I want to REPLACE Windows Messenger with MSN
messenger 6 so that it loads when I run Outlook or
Internet Explorer.

I know I could load it seperately each time but it annoys
the Hell out of me that Windows Messenger can load
automatically but not MSN Messenger.

I know I can stick it in my startup menu but that means
it starts even before I connect to the internet and then
sits there looking at me and complaining that it can't
access my account.

Please help someone :)

Greetings Andrea,

There is *no* possible way to "replace" Windows Messenger with MSN Messenger 6.

You can however stop Outlook from loading Windows Messenger -- to do so, for Outlook
(XP/2002), just open Outlook, click the Tools menu, then Options, then the Other tab, and
uncheck 'Enable Instant Messaging in Microsoft Outlook'. For Outlook Express, close Outlook
Express, and run this .reg file:
