If there is one thing, VISTA's desktop search is VERY fast. The indexing Vista uses probably keeps the disk going more than it should at times, but oh wow, I'm extremely impressed by the speed that vista searches through all my gigs of documents etc.

Going back to XP is just annoying now. 8-)

I'm so used to launching applications by typing a few letters of their names
and hitting enter now. The concept of naviagating through a really long
menu to get to a program just seems nuts.

No kidding! Can't go back now that I've tasted the forbidden fruit :)

VISTA seems totally stable right now, extremely stable in fact. Apart from a
minor issue of one program not being to run due to SQL incompats from
Microsoft itself (with patches for VISTA coming very soon .... The software
is NVIVO 7 from QSR International, for qualitative analysis of texts),
everything is A+++ with Vista. A happy upgrader I am (well, except that my
EPSON CX4800 printer does not work :(

Best,
Dan

Definitely one of Vista's best features. They hired Dr. Gary Flake; gave him considerable stock, a lab, a Distinguished ScientistTitle (ain't many of those at MSFT), access to the big boys and girls, good staff and he helped architect that search. He used to be head of Yahoo Search. He's also bopped around and given speeches on Web 2.0 whatever and whenever it will turn out to be.

Daniel:
Download the Epson drivers and Twain drivers for XP or XP x64,
corresponding to the Vista edition that you're using. The drivers will unzip
to C: Epson, manually install the printer pointing to the unzipped drivers.
I have an Epson CX4800 and everything functions properly with Vista x64.
Have a great day.
