Very Disappointed

This software brought my system to its knees, and it was
down for 5 days without an answer. I spoke with over 12
Microsoft tech-support people, and nobody knew what to
do. If your machine suddenly stops working because of
AntiSpyware, it's because it knocks out the TCP/IP
stack. Since there's no support for this thing, a
student actually turned me on to the fix. LOOK OUT for
this particular Beta product!

If you'd come here with that issue, you would have had a reference to a KB
article written specifically for this product, probably posted in a a very
short time.

In fact, the tech-support folks should have done better.

You are absolutely right that this effect isn't what the customer expects.
Microsoft is quite aware of this and we'll see how well they can do by the
end of the beta.

Here's the KB article, fWIW:

I find it very hard to believe nobody at MS could help you - they have
access to the same MS knowledgeBase article that everyone uses to solve the
LSP problems caused by spyware being removed from your machine. I also find
your actions irresponsible for not reading all the accompanying
documentation MS provides on their website where you downloaded MSAS. You
did not research THIS beta more thoroughly in the Newsgroups MS set up FOR
SUPPORT. You would have already been fully prepared to combat nearly any
situation MSAS could throw at you.

I do hope you were able to get your machine running again and I hope this
was a learning experience for you that can have value as soon as you learn
to stop blaming others for your lack of preparation. If you want to be
angry, start with yourself for not doing your homework.

I do know many people who have gone to supposed experts and paid them money
to fix problems that I eventually fix for them in a matter of a half hour or
so. Once it took half the day. You are not alone in the world of people
who are extremely ill prepared to use a complex system like a computer, and
yet, millions upon millions do somewhat successfully every day.

I was vacationing in Canada many years ago during one of my summers. The
campground I stayed at one night had a "heated" swimming pool. So, I ran
and jumped straight in. I scrambled back out even faster - the thermometer
read 55 degrees F. I went and asked the management and they said, "Yes, it
is heated - to keep it from freezing."

The moral of the story - before you dive headlong into something you think
you understand, check the temperature.
