I am trying , for two hours now, to save my database to a flopy disc. The net
has been no help, giving such advice as "under File select Backup" (which
does not exist) and in generan not addressing the basic questions a dummy
NEEDS answered. I get a can't find file name whenever I try to save.
HELP anyone.

From within Access, you can ...

Close your database
Select Database Utilities, then Compact and Repair Database from the Tools
menu
In the Database To Compact From dialog, select your database
In the Compact Database Into dialog, select your diskette drive

Alternatively, do it from outside of Access, by right-clicking the database
in either 'My Computer' or 'Windows Explorer', choosing 'Sent To' and then
choosing your diskette drive.

Note, though, that any non-trivial Access database is likely to outgrow the
capacity of a diskette drive rather quickly.

A database isn't really a "document", like a Word document or an Excel
spreadsheet. It's a container for multiple objects. As such, there is
not really an option to "save a database".

Simply use Windows Explorer or My Computer, and copy the .mdb file to
your diskette.
