Within Win XP Pro I am getting an error that won't go away, the system has
become very slow.

I have tried to set the Virtual Memory as requested by the message at end of
the boot up stage.

No matter what values I set they do not stick despite rebooting as advised
following value changes

I am doing this via.
System Properties - Advanced - Performance - Settings - Advanced - Virtual
Memory - Change - Custom size.

The values show in the respective boxes but in reality do not create the
pagefile.sys in either of the drives.

Anyone know what might cure this?

Thanks
Mark

Thanks but I have clicked Set, Apply, OK etc and it will not hold.

Actual RAM is 500mb SDRAM and Win XP is suggesting 1024 Virtual - I have
tried various combinations from 2 min to 1500 max and 1024 min - 1024 min
etc etc all will not hold - no pagefile.sys is created.

Thanks
Mark

Make sure you click apply after you change the settings then reboot. I
have 512 MB or DDR memory and I use 384 for both custo settings. Hope this
helps.

Intel chipset? If yes, look in Control Panel ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS for the
Intel Application Accelerator.
If found, remove it. (It is not mandatory that it be installed.)

Then go here, read up, and if applicable install the latest I.A.A.
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/
http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/tti001.htm

The system does not have the Intel Application Accelerator installed.

Any other suggestions

Thanks for your help

First - ensure you click Set beside the boxes after making any change.
