Vertical stripes in some pictures

Hello everybody,

In some pictures on some webpages my browser shows blue or red vertical
stripes with separations crossing the image looking something like this:

||||||||||
||||||||||
||||||||||
||||||||||

You can still see the image behind the stripes. They show up in no other
browser. On the image of the soccerplayers in the URL below there are 54
vertical stripes equally distanced. Each stripe may start on top with a few
pixels with for example blue and then shift to red for a few pixels and
there are a lot of separations in the stripes where the background picture
shines through. In 95 percent of the cases the color of the stripe follows
the color of the background. When the color of the players shirt is red the
stripe is red. When the color of the shirt is blue the stripe is
predominantly blue with some red interspersed. I've tried every browser and
system update I can think of. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Arthur :-)

Try the following and see if it helps:

First - Do you have an accelerator supplied by your ISP? If so, try turning
it off.
It works by reducing image size (and therefor quality) for downloads.

Safely Delete the Temporary Internet Files
http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/delcache.htm

Try clearing the IE cache. I.E./Tools/Options/General/Delete files (and
delete offline content.)

IAlso, try updating your video driver, IE is known to be very hard on them.
If you don't know the location of your video driver, or how to find it:
Location for XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314854
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/games/learnmore/updatingdrivers.mspx
or......
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q314854
Find the information on your video driver. Then go to the website for the
mfg. of the video driver and look for the update to download and install.
There may also be a Update Driver button on the dialog box you can use to go
direct to the update download site.

and.............

Try reducing hardware acceleration:
Right click on the Desktop on an open area,
Properties>Settings>Advanced>Troubleshoot
Move the slider back to the left a little and test to see if that helps.
Try it at increments until you get all the way to the left end to see if
that helps.

Hope this helps :-)

Thank you so much for all your suggestions Jan I'll try them out one by
one and see what happens.
