Hello,

I own an USB video device, which shouldbe fully UVC-compliant. It streams
MJPEG-compressed frames over an isochronous endpoint and has no extension or
processing units, so itshould realy be working with ubvideo.sys.

Infact, it does if i use the versionof usbvideo.sys, which i included in
XP-SP2 (5.1.2600.2180). But if i try to use it with a newer version
(5.1.2600.2729 or even SP3's 5.1.2600.5512) I get an exclamation point in
the device manager (error 10, could not start device) and it does not work
anymore.

Does any one know about the differences between those versions? Can some
think of a possible cause for this problem?

Thank you very much and best regards,
Simon

As with most SP3 "hardware" problems, this seems to be an
incompatibility of the device drivers with SP3. You may fix this by
re-installing the drivers or installing any updated drivers.

Thanks for your answer. The only device drivers involved are provided by
windows and the SP3 itself. I can boot to safe mode, replce the sp3-version
of usbvideo.sys in system32/drivers by the old sp2 version and after the
reboot, the camera works. if i afterwards do it the otherway around 8rplace
sp2-version with sp3-version) itdoes not work anymore...

Any ideas?

Hi Chuck,
the device is still in development by my research group and so off no make
or model.
Sorry, Simon
