MS Beta Public

Just updated to 613. 3 or 4 issues. All fairly minor.

The autoupdate from older version 5xx.. didn't catch the update.. Went to
About Box, and choose link in there, went through install/update and reboot.
This has already been reported by others.

After install, everything OK.

Ran on another machine that had got infected a month ago and I manually
ripped the guts out of the virus. (Still don't know where I got it from.. I
didn't run anything, IE said it had blocked an ActiveX from installing, and
Norton still claims I was never infected.. One of those bombs that download
about 10 other different 'utilities' and 'search bars'.) Seems to have
cleaned up left over registry settings.. A-OK! Good job. That machine then
went on to the Restore IE Settings. This is where things get wierd.

There is no indication that you can click on the item to set the restore URL
to default. Since one of the trojan/virus hacked the Search Bar, I needed
to restore a few. I'm a computer guy, I understand stuff like this and
boldly click around... Again, not a big deal.

What IS strange in the scrollbar on this window.. I maximized the window
and there is still a scroll bar, thumb shows 50% of the window is showing.
So I scroll down (click and drag thumb). As the bar scrolls down, so does
the window so there is blank space at the TOP of the list. It scolls until
the bottom row is at the bottom of the screen.

Finally. During the scan it found c:\windows\system32\p2pnetworking.exe (I
thought I had deleted that one... must have missed it.) and It said it had
deleted it during the scan, but I see no mention of it anywhere in the logs.
It wasn't running, and ther was no reg. keys associated with it.
