Does anyone know how to enable "allowing version 2 (kernel-mode) drivers"
on a Windows 2003 server that is not part of active directory. The only
information I can find deals with using group policies. There has to be a
registry key or something? Any information would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Yes. It's a group policy that one can set on the local system. You can use
gpedit.msc to change Administrative Templates / Printers / Disallow
installation on printers using Kernel-mode drivers

Unless you have tested the kernel driver well I do not recommend adding the
driver to a production print server.

There is also a reg key

HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\Printers\KMPrintersAreBlocked

It's a dword disabled when set to 0
