I am very new at this and am not even sure of the correct
vocabulary to use for what I need to do. I need to copy
(or download, or import, or publish?) my existing web site
into FrontPage so that I can get a report to check
hyperlinks, and make some corrections. I will then have
to copy (or upload, or export or publish?)the corrected
pages (only)back to our web site. I would like to know
how to do this and also if/how this will affect the actual
site (I assume it won't affect it at all until I put the
corrected pages back). Thanks.

1. Open the existing Web site in FrontPage.
2. Choose Publish Web from the File menu.
3. Specify a new or empty folder on your hard disk.
4. Click OK twice, then click Publish.
5. Close the existing Web site.
6. Choose Open Web on the File menu, and open the location
you specifie in step 3.
7. Choose Reports from the View menu, then Problems, then
Broken Hyperlinks.
8. Repair any hyperlinks you like.
9. Choose Publish Web from the File menu, then specify the
location of the pre-existing Web site.
10. When the Publish Web dialog box appars, check the
status of all the files and folders on the left.
10. Click Publish to update the pre-existing Web.

Open the live version in FrontPage.
Select File > Publish and publish it to
a location on your machine.
Close the live version
Open the local version.
Make the changes and save.
Recalculate hyperlinks.
Select File > Publish and publish
back to the server. Make sure you
select "Publish Changed pages only"

Does the remote server have the FP extensions? If so then you can open the
site directly in FP, using File Menu | Open Web.
