OK, I'm still trying to get VPN working and am having no luck. I can VPN to
the server when directly connected, and receive a 721 error when connecting
to the external IP address. This certainly would seem to be a problem
passing GRE, as discussed in multiple posts.
How can I concretely verify that the GRE packets are not making it through?
I have multiple logs in the ..\tracing directory; can any of them shed light
on the subject? My problem is I have a router from the ISP (Network
Telephone) that is (supposed to be) just bridging the connection, then I
have a LinkSys BEFVP41 acting as a NAT. Supposedly the LinkSys will pass
the conversation (using their "PPTP" option), and supposedly the Network
Telephone doesn't stop anything. However, all these "supposedly" working
options are combining to fail. So, how can I isolate each piece, starting
with making sure this truly is a problem passing the GRE conversation on
post 1723?
Thanks,
