My company had me get a digital ID that is used when i logon
to the company network with a VPN client. I am just
wondering, is my name or other info that was given when
getting the digital ID sent to web sites i visit now that i
have a digital ID ? or can they look it up ?. Will any site
be able to get info about me just by visiting them either
while on the VPN connection or standard internet connection
from the PC that has the ID.

I do not like give out my personal info while on the net.

TIA

That is not what a digital id is for. It is used to authenticate you and
provide a method to digitally sing and decrypt information for the purpose
of keeping information secure and insuring identidy of sender. It also
provides an extra layer of security because not just knowing a name/password
is good enough for authentication - the possession of your private key is
necessary. A Certificate Authority should be taking measures to keep your
personal information private in order to keep the integrity of the public
key encryption system. See link below for more information. --- Steve
