Vectorizer

Can anyone recommend a freeware vectorizer, that is a program which will
take a .bmp, .gif, .jpg or .png and produce a vectorized .emf or .wmf .

Note that I am not looking for something that simply places the raster
graphics in the .emf or .wmf . I am looking for a true vectorizer.

Try (be aware even the commercail apps that do this make big cumblesome
vector images and need to be tweaked)

Thanks and thanks to Bepop too. Here is my experience.

Based on their web sites, Ras2Vec does not support color and WinTopo only
supports color in the pay version so I tried AutoTrace. There are
quite a few tuning parameters and I tried adjusting a few but was
never really able to get a satisfactory result for a test image. Its
possible that there are a better set of tuning parameters than I used
and AutoTrace does appear to be in active development so I assume it will
get easier to use over time.

came out on top; however, as the site mentions this software is no
longer available and has been replaced with the commercial Vector Eye

Thanks for the feedback.

I discovered the no-longer-available status so didn't mention CR2V.
Don't know if it's out there anywhere - no luck so far (don't have a
file name) perhaps redistribution was not allowed . . .
