VDM Sound Issues

From what I understand VDMSound is an emulator for DOS
games so that you can hear the music and sound? For some
reason my old games like Heretic and Hexen are running
with sound without the help of VDMSound, and that is why
their is a static sound for these games. Now not all of
my DOS games have sound and so using VDMSound with them
works perfect. If you run VDMSound with a game that
already has a working sound does it replace it with the
Emulated sound or how does that work? I tried running
Heretic and Hexen under Windows 95 compatability and it
still gave me the same static noise. I tried running them
with VDMSound and they wouldn't load up. I am thinking it
might be a hardware issue here and not so much that their
is no sound. Would appreciate any help. Thanks for the
help from before, helped out a lot with other games. Look
forward to your reply. Thanks guys.

Hi Jason,

You're welcome. :-)

One thing you could try to improve sound for those two
games is to lower your sound acceleration: Click Start /
Run/ type: dxdiag / Under Sound move the slider to the left.

For more information about VDMSound, look at the articles
and compatibility lists at their site, or use their forums. :-)

Did you do anything special to get these to run with XP? I have them but
haven't played since upgrading.
