I'm using XP Pro and was trying to route the VCR to the
PC.

My primary goal here is to listen to my VCR-tapes on my
PC. I don't need to capture or record or edit...just
listen.

Extra credit for being able to view the VCR-tape picture.

Does XP have anything built-in that can handle all this?

Thanks.
Rog.

The simplest, easiest and cheapest way to listen to VCR
tapes over the PC speakers, is to go to Radio Shack and
buy a speaker splitter. It costs about $3.00
To also have a video transmitter to the PC is another
story. You'll need a video editor such as Adobe to
change the setting from analog to digital. Or do the
following .........

The way I do it is by taking the RCA cord (with the
yellow, red, and white) and stick the yellow one into the
video in slot on your graphics card (you may need to buy
an adapter). Then, I bought a cable (about 50 cents) from
Radio Shack that converts the regular computer audio jack
into the white and red RCA jacks. I then placed those
into the audio in slot on my motherboard. You can use
many different types of video capture software. Right now
I use adobe. It works well for my purpose of recording
movies.
