I have some CD's that contain VCD recordings. I believe they were made from
VHS tapes using Hauppauge software and their video card. They will play on
my PC using the Windows Media Player. There is no way they will play using
my Panasonic DVD player-recorder.

This may not be the right place for this question, but, I have exhausted
every other avenue.

Is there any way these recordings can be converted to DVD format so as to
enjoy on the DVD player. The original VHS tapes have been destroyed.

HELP! PLEASE
Jerry

Search Google for:
RIP VCD

The following link is just an example of what
you might find:
Convert VCD to divx

Once you have the movie file from the VCD...
you should be able to use DVD Authoring
software to burn a DVD.

FWIW....some stand alone DVD players will
not play home made VCDs, DVDs.

I can't recall the exact file structure on VCD's off hand, but if you
explore the VCD in windows explorer, you will find a large file with a .dat
extension, this is your movie file and is basically a mpg I file with a
different extension. If you copy that file to your harddrive and change the
file extension to .mpg you should then be able to import that file into
your DVD authoring software and burn it to a DVD
