VBE Annoyance

I have a puzzle I'd like to solve.

Last fall, my company converted to Windows 2003 and Office
2003. Since then, whenever I log into my computer after
the screensaver has been running, the VBE window is open.

I may have had Outlook as the active application, maybe a
mainframe session, or maybe Access with a query running.
In any case, no matter what was active, the VBE window is
open -- even if there are no modules in that particular
database.

If Excel is open, that VBE window will be open, though it
appears to happen only if there are modules in that
workbook.

And it's a wierd VBE window -- no menus, no toolbars. No
modules are open. Just the VBE full screen.

Any ideas? Is this normal behavior? Our IS people have
no clue (but that's normal ;-).

It's certainly not a huge problem. I just get annoyed
when I have to close windows I didn't open and don't want
open.

Thanks!

I think this is a similar issue to one identified by another ACCESS MVP, but
I can't recall the specifics about the situation. I've put in a question to
my MVP peers to see if they remember it in order to see if we might suggest
a solution. No promises, but we'll see.

I believe what you're seeing has been documented as a bug for ACCESS (not
sure about the other applications that you note). Here some workarounds for
when ACCESS causes this.

1. Don't have a form open in design view when the screensaver "kicks in".
Have the form in form view.
2. Close all forms before the screensaver "kicks in".
3. Restore the VBE by closing VBE and reopening it.

Haven't any info re: when/if the bug will be/is fixed at this time. With
regard to the other applications, I haven't found any info about them,
sorry.
