Hello

It's been a while since I've been programming in classical VB... (now doing
VB.net)
I now have to write some excel VBA stuff to access a Database (SQL-Server)
and I don't know how.
Is there any good tutorial or can anybody help me?
Finally, the user must be able to enter a number in the excel sheet and the
macro then gets a record from the database, using the user's input as
WHERE-argument
Thanks for your help!

Simon

This might be a help for getting data to and from Excel and Access:
It includes examples of using variables in SQL queries.
Easily adapted for Sql Server.
http://www.bygsoftware.com/examples/sql.html

Or you can get there from the "Excel with Access Databases" section on page:
http://www.bygsoftware.com/examples/examples.htm

It demonstrates how to use SQL in Excel's VBA to:

* create a database,
* create a table and add data to it,
* select data from a table,
* delete a table,
* delete a database.

DAO and ADO files available.

You can also download the demonstration file called "excelsql.zip".

The code is open and commented.

Thanks Andy... already downloaded it in the meantime! Great example for all
the DB stuff!
