VB.NET, you must be desperate if you use it

Good luck learning quite a new language, good luck with your 21MB+ programs,
good luck with the distribution of your applications, good luck when
Microsoft releases another new version of Framework!

Some people never learn...

My last one is 48k, and thats the debug version
good luck with the distribution of your applications,

they are not any harder to distribute than a VB6 app?
good luck when

Umm, you do reallize that every single version of VB so far has had a new runtime to go along with
it? If they released a VB7 version of VB, it would have a VB7 runtime. Not much different
really.

Some people never learn...

Some people will never understand......

Go back to the Java groups.

this is a true statement...

I definitely know your frustration.
Microsoft doesn't seem to be to dedicated to keeping their stuff--whatever
you learn can be
gone in minutes with them.

Vb.net is a great improvement in many ways. The runtime is aggravating in
one way but
all Windows systems will soon have it anyway.. so no big deal.

Also, this make programs pretty small.

And distributing patches by just sending a new .EXE--no setup...
is wonderful!

I don't think they will kill the old framework when they put out a new one.
That would be stupid! If they do then we will all have to look for new
lanugages, OS's etc, from people who actually care about their developers.
I really doubt they will do that. There are so many classes, what would
they need to change?

Add a few things maybe (definitely) that still require API calls..
that's all I can imagine.

Why, THANK YOU !! I appreciate all your good wishes. But, most of my
programs are far smaller than 21MB. That is except if you are counting the
..NET Framework install. Which, after the first time it is installed, is no
problem. Then all my programs attached to that particular version of the
framework, are really quite small.
And I am looking forward to the NEXT version of the Framework. More
functionality and much better for me and my users. And you are correct, some
people never learn.......................
And it sounds like you never will with your apparent attitude.

I must be desperate, because I'm lovin .NET, especially the more I use
it.

Try distributing and setting up a Progress application, if you want to
have some fun.

Funny how people ignore runtimes and framework...
they are not any harder to distribute than a VB6 app?

No, not harder, just as hard

Umm, you do reallize that every single version of VB so far has had a new runtime to go along with

No, not much difference, just the same problems.
Every thought of having several customers to program for... I guess not
Some people will never understand......

....why people never learn

Do you really think that all the retailers in your town care if it's vb or
vb.net???

Some of them have a web page and some database and office software and
that's it. The world is not just about big multinationals you know....

It's the .NET is don't get.

But hey, if you wanna follow the leader all the time, go ahead

Another example; I can write programs that work on every operating system I
want and that are incredible small and are only one exe, no runtimes needed,
no frameworks. That gives me enormous flexibility!

vb.net is nice for some things, but be honest... do you really want to base
all of your business administration on VB.NET? LOL

You're funny!

I feel sorry for you to think that Java is a language LOL

But then again, you have that same confusion with VB

Sorry, why is a .NET Framework "confusing"?!

This is bordering stupidity...

You can write programs that work on every operating system and that work on
every operating system and only use one exe eh?

You realize that nullify's your entire argument of being a super being of
programming? Only one major operating system vendor uses the exe format...

Microsoft...

Hmmmm.... I dunno, I don't hold much credibilty to your business knowledge.

Waiting with baited breathe for the revalation of the most supreme language
on the planet.

Is it REXX?

Don't forget the operating system. Don't want a requirement as important as
that...
No, not harder, just as hard

Yes...those wizards are a real bit**...
new
runtime to go along with

No, not much difference, just the same problems.
Every thought of having several customers to program for... I guess not

Of course we never thought of it.. The customer doesn't know what they want,
you can ask any programmer that.
...why people never learn

.... insert incessent rhetoric comment here... [don't forget elipses to
further prove your superior intellect]

Yes, my software is such a hot "local item". We have our own seal that we
put on our non-existant "packageing" called "Illinois Grown", people see
that and are like "Well, we have to get that... it's written in Illinois."
Some of them have a web page and some database and office software and
that's it. The world is not just about big multinationals you know....

Well... the people with all the money are...
It's the .NET is don't get.

Oh, this must be some incredibly deep statement that only ye of super genius
sense and magic will get eh? Please enlighten us all on the mystifying
views of why you don't "get" .NET.

But hey, if you wanna follow the leader all the time, go ahead

Well... It doesn't seem very wise to follow the guy "not winning", now does
it?
