I'm sorry for alluding you to being an aphid minded person, but I ha
to get your attention.
I have a few questions for you people out there who know a lot abou
computers. The first one is: How do I change the positions o
folders in the "start" button? The second one is: How do
create new folders in the "start" menu, (to put things in)?
Thirdly Is anyone in here an expert on windows xp and what th
differences are between windows xp and me (millenium edition) an
what that means to me (as in what differences should I look out for
how can I use them to my advantage)? Fourthly how do I turn of
"remember me" in automatic remembering systems on m
internet browser? Fifthly why does a second background come up whe
I log off a user (on windows xp), or log in to a user? Finally wha
makes the computer go faster, ram, a new microprocessor or what?
A side note, notice I didn't have a category to put these question
in, well I could have if I thougth about it, which is why I chose th
subject at the very beginning of this post

Your OS would be a good place to start. Is it W95, W98, WME,
or possibly Win XP ?.
1. In the Start Menu, L\click a folder, and drag it up\down,
to where you want it.
2. Programs in the Start Menu are stored in the Startup folder,
so just put a new folder in there, with a name of your choice.
3. The Home Edition is configured for home users, and the Pro
version is much more business oriented.
4.
5.

Right-click start, choose explore all users. Drag and drop, delete and
create new to your heart's content. :)

The second one is: How do I
create new folders in the "start" menu, (to put things in)?

See above.

The main difference is that XP is more stable, and (at this point in time)
it's a lot easier to find software and drivers for XP. The main thing you
need to know is that you need to do a CLEAN install of XP. Don't even think
about doing an upgrade install over Windows ME.

Fourthly how do I turn off
"remember me" in automatic remembering systems on my
internet browser?

Never heard of it. I know some browsers store passwords. If that's what
you are talking about: In firefox: tools, options, passwords. In IE,
Tools, Internet Options, Content, Personal information, AutoComplete.

Fifthly why does a second background come up when
I log off a user (on windows xp), or log in to a user?

That's just the way Windows XP is designed. You can turn it off, I think.
It's called the welcome screen. Search help for welcome screen, there is a
procedure to turn it off.

Finally what
makes the computer go faster, ram, a new microprocessor or what?

Yes. :) Actually, it might surprise you to learn that the biggest
performance improvement isn't to be gained from hardware upgrades, but
rather cleaning up your startup folder. Do start, run, msconfig, go to
startup tab, uncheck everything that doesn't need to be running. If you
aren't sure about a particular program, search it at www.sysinfo.org

But if you've cleaned that up and still want a performance boost?
Generally, less than 512MB of RAM, it's time to add more RAM. Already at
512MB or more, you should consider an upgrade to your mainboard, processor
AND RAM (and don't forget video card). Or pretty much, start over.
