Various add-ins

This depends on the add-in and what exactly it does. I am not familiar
with the add-in to which you are referring. The add-in itself will never
show up on someone else's computer (unless they install it). However,
many add-ins change settings in PowerPoint or in a PowerPoint file. If
they are changing the settings in a file, those changes should go with
the file. For example, I could write an add-in to change the color of
every shape in a presentation to something that the user selects. This
add-in would be a utility that changes the PowerPoint file, and these
changes would be in effect on any computer.

If I were to use some of the add-ins offered in this
forum on my desktop, do the attrributes carry-over to
someone elses desktop? For instance - I saw one add-in to
convert to black and white
Does the settings I set-up carry though to their desktop?

You'd have to check with each addin's developer.

In many cases, these addins simply automate what you could do yourself with the
mouse. It might take the addin a second where it takes you the better part of a
day, but in the end it's just setting properties the same way you might.

In cases like that, it doesn't matter afterward whether the addin is installed
or not; the green thing's been changed to red or gray and stays that way on
any PC.

I presumed the add-in application itself would not follow
the ppt file.
I was referring directly to black and white settings,
mainly because this affects printing in black and white.

But if I undersatnd your answer correctly "most" changes
made to ppt file via add-ins will follow the file and
will display properly. Given limitations of the version
of ppt one may have.

yes?
