q1 - is it possible to design 2 links in the same slide differently, if so -
how?
q2 - is it possible to insert an image in the flow of text or in a table
cell and not as an object floating over the slide?

For question one, what do you mean by designing 2 links differently?
Formatting Hyperlinks?

For question two, you can't. You can though, group up the image and text so
that they move and resize together.

yes indeed, formatting 2 hyperlinks on the same slide with different color
schemes or in any way that i can make them look different from one another.

What you can do is instead of adding hyperlink to the text,
Give the text a color of your choice.
Insert a rectangle autoshape that covers the entire text.
Double click on the rectangle to bring up format autoshape dialog box.
Under fill, set it to 99% transparency.
Under line, set it to no line.
Hyperlink to the rectangle.
Now, do the same to the second text.

Thanks
so my last resort is this - can I cancel the underline under all hyperlinks
in the presentation in one place ( as I change colors in the slide
design/color scheme)?

The text will be underlined, you can't remove it.

Hyperlink to the somewhat transparent rectangle that Shawn mentioned in his previous post instead of the text, that will get rid of the underlined text
