Thanks, Rick. Locked is false. For a list box, I didn't find an
AllowEdits property. Wait - it's a form property...SOLVED! Way to
go. Likewise for the solution of Me.Visible on my 2nd issue. (Why
the muthuh#$%^ is AllowEdits false by default?!)

Man this Google access is uncharacteristically slow (i.e. their
refresh interval) and this reply may fall out of thread - though it's
great that they have it.

ummm...it's not. It got set somehow, but that is NOT the default.

Well, Google is an *archive* - it can be used as a newsreader but
that's not its intent! You can use Outlook Express as a newsreader,
linking to msnews.microsoft.com if your ISP's news server doesn't
carry m.p.a., or you can get one of several dedicated newsreader
programs such as Agent.

Okay, interesting. It's not something I would have deliberately
set, so I have a real mystery on my hands. Thanks for correcting me.

I said 'great' implying "grateful" as I have nothing but great respect
and awe for Google. No one will ever mistake Google for a Microsoft
product! Google will never ever have to plant product fanboys in the
Net to secure their reputation :) AAR I'm just voicing the party line -

Newsreaders are not functional at the office - and the IT firewall
"expert" can't fix it. However I have not considered OE - thanks for the tip.
