Dear Colleagues;

Please forgive me if I'm posting this on a wrong newsgroup but I'm trying to
extract data from Access into Excel.

When I get a data from a Memo field, whose string is very long(no problem
with short Memo field data), and insert it in a cell of a worksheet in
Excel, the cell displays #Value instead of its actual value.

I belive this is a limitation of a text in a cell of Excel. Is there a way
to go around this problem?

Thank you

Suk Ho

Dear Mr. Suh -

You can insert 32,767 characters into a cell. Is there any chance that the
first character in your string leads Excel to try to interpret the string as
a formula? When I was importing a text file into Excel I ran into that
problem when text was split so that the contents of a cell began with a "-"
character; I solved the problem by searching for errors & inserting the
apostrophe in front of the pseudo formula. Good luck!

Mr. Suh -

You can insert 32,767 characters into a cell in Excel 2002; fewer in earlier
versions. Check Help for Excel specifications & limits > workbook &
worksheet specifications. Is it possible that the first character in your
text string leads Excel to interpret the text as a formula? You can solve
this problem by inserting an apostrophe in front of the string before
inserting; or run through the worksheet afterwards checking for errors &
insert the apostrophe then. Good luck!
