Validating Form Fields

How do I change the properties in form fields to "required" from the default.
Some words seem to automatically default to required and appear as a yellow
box, e.g. email, name phone, whereas other titles I insert e.g. fax, company,
organisation, appear in a white box.
 
Form Field Properties. Click Validate and choose required.
