Hello,
I would like to know how to restrict data to come only
from a list that exists in another workbook.
For example the lists of data are in a
workbook 'Lists.xls' and each sheet is named
(eg.) 'Customer List', 'Job List'. What do I enter for the
source in the data validation window and do I need a
formula on the worksheet? I tried to follow the help
file on this item but it didnt seem to work.

Thank You,
Marianne

Sorry I've come on this late.
If I've read this right, then I can use a named range on another workbook,
providing it's opened? ("Mydrive:\My Directory\and sub
dirs\:spreadsheet.xls"!)=named range
????

I have a largish spreadsheet I've developed for work and it uses a named
range to incorporate multiple VLOOKUPS to return information to the user. I
now need to 'write' labels that may incorporate the information (or may
not!). The physical (paper) labels that I must use are available within MS
Word.

Is it possible to have a (mailmerge) in word that will lookup a sheet in XL,
and take that information, or ask for a user input? I guess this should be a
Q for Word newsgroups, but if necessary I'll try and adapt a sheet in XL to
accomplish the same task.

I can create another sheet in XL to accomplish this, by copying an
'information' sheet I created to another page, but deleting formulas to
information not required, and re-arranging data. Mail Merge would be the
simplest way to go I think!

Thanks

Ken
