I upgraded from Win98 to XP Pro and can't find a driver for the DVD for my Vaio laptop. Sony website useless. Any help?

Is the DVD drive Windows XP compatible? If not, you may be out of luck.
Try the Sony website again and search for XP Drivers. If they have any,
they will be on the site.

The Sony website has detailed instructions for upgrading the VAIO, which
must be followed. I have upgraded my VAIO laptop to XP with no problems; the
DVD works fine.

You could also try http://www.driverguide.com and search for one if you know
the manufacturer of the drive and the model.

I'm going to assume that the drive works properly, but you're unable to play DVD movies with it. What you need is a software DVD decoder. Try WinDVD, PowerDVD, or many of the other software DVD players.
