Going north--first to a city famous for a tea party, then across a ferry to
a large island in another country. Cooler is one goal.

See you all in a while.

Not so far--just Nova Scotia.

Roots are Scottish and German. I've been to Germany, but not to Holland.
(and also Italy, Switzerland, France, Britain, Egypt, Israel, Ecuador, and
Canada fwiw) Haven't traveled nearly as much since I got married, but maybe
now that the kids are getting to the point of being on their own...

Thanks! We just spent a day with our 12-year old daughter. She's in the
middle of a 4 week stay at a camp not too far away, and they have a rule
that you must remove the camper from the premises for most of the saturday
between sessions. So, we went to the beach--My wife, who burns easily, got
somewhat burned. I might have got a little, but not what I would notice.

Anyway--we'll have a great time in the northerly reaches of my country, and
the easterly ones of yours where it is cooler and more scenic. Leaving my
19 year old to mind the fort, to say nothing of the 13 year old beagle, 20
year old cat, and hamster, who's not very old at all!

Bill,

Are you taking the Ferry from Boston -- where I'm from -- or from Portland,
Maine?

Nova Scotia *is* beautiful, Bill, you'll love it.
Water is freezing though.
Local hospitality is outstanding as well - very US friendly <g>

Actually--from Bar Harbor. We drove to Southwest Harbor from Boston (more
accurately--cambridge--my sister is chief financial officer at
Radcliffe--and then took the ferry at 8 the next morning. Catamaran
ferry--built, or at least designed--in Australia, I believe--very nice,
fast.

Thanks, all! We had a great trip--we camped for two nights in
Kejimkujic--the national park in Nova Scotia, and then drove north (one
intermediate stop) to Mabou where we heard an excellent concert by local
folks at the highschool auditorium, followed by an evening out at a bar
listening to another pair of musicians. Then we did two more nights of
camping in the national park in Cape Breton. Then home, via New
Brunswick--stopping in Saint John to view the reversing falls. More than
2500 miles of driving, with the overall average for the whole trip of 50.8
miles per gallon in the Prius.

there is a bunch of towns in NJ that are South, North, East, and New
Brunswick. I wonder where they got their names? <grin>
I am glad you had a great time
