Is there a utility that will generate a list of CD Titles from an MP3
Directory and generate a playlist for each CD? I've already updated all the
ID tags, but my main MP3 dir is now so large that it would take a major effort
to do it manually. Thanks.

Try ID3-Tagit <http://www.id3-tagit.de/> The latest version requires
..Net 1.1 but earlier available version (2.3.4) does not. It has
functions both to organize your main dir into subdirs by tag or to
generate playlists as you requested.

I like it best of the many mp3 taggers I've tried, free and pay.

Thanks I will try it.

I think Visual CD can do this.

thanks i'll give it a look. I was actually looking for a run-once utility,
rather than a full blown Tag Editor. The Tag Editor I have, Tag&Rename is
nice, but it doesn't condense the files down to a list of cd's. And you have
to generate the playlists manually by highlighting the files. It would be nice
if someone would write a proggy to collect all files from each cd title in the
archive, create a playlist for each, and generate a cd *list*, in one fell
swoop.

Ah well, I can dream, cant I?

You may like Audio Files Manager. It can't generate a playlist but it can
group your files by tags.
You can find it here:

Direct link:

Then (if I'm not wrong) .m3u playlists can be generated just doing a:
dir "C:\MyFolder\Artist\Album" /b >
"C:\MyFolder\Artist\Album\myplaylist.m3u"

bye

Take a look at:

http://www.gasanov.net/Mp3ListShellEx.htm

Mp3ListShellEx is Windows Explorer shell extension. It allows to easily
build many types of playlist (wpl, b4s, m3u, pls) and mp3 list (htm,
xml, xls, csv). To create list just select in your favorite file manager
drive(s) or folder(s) with mp3 files and choose desired list type from
context (right-click) menu.
