Is there any utility that will scan and give specifics of installed memory -
not only size but also speed and others as whether CL2 or CL3 and the like?

Check out SIW (not sure if it does this, but it's awfully swell, and it's

AIDA 32 Enterprise Edition

Was free. You might find some sites still carrying the download.

The developer got swallowed up by Lavalys and his product followed to
be renamed Everest Home. Since Everest wanted to commercialize the
product, they crippled it in the Home version and charged for their
Corporate and Enterprise editions. Now the Home edition is no longer
listed on Lavalys' web site; see

wins again.

CPUZ shows the current operating conditions of the RAM (remember to
multiply the clock speed by two, for DDR/DDR2 type memories). It also
shows the contents of the SPD, both in convenient form, and also
dumps the raw SPD table (via the About tab and reporting options).

In the SPD tab, remember to select the slot number you want info
on. On my computer, on opening CPUZ, it displays one of my empty
RAM slots, so I have to select the slot number to view the slots
that are occupied.

The raw SPD dump, starts like this in the report file. The SPD is
256 bytes.

You can use JEDEC.org documentation to decode the hex, if you
need more info from the RAM, than you think CPUZ is
giving you.

CPU-Z comes closest to what I had in mind.
