utility to fix split URLs?

Is there a utility that simplifies the task of dealing with long URLs that
have broken across two or more lines in an email or newsgroup message?

I mean something where we could copy the split URL to the clipboard, and the
utility would delete the extra >s, put the URL in proper format and launch
it?

I think OE Quotefix does this as part of its processing;

eMailStripper will do it in a sort of a way. It is really meant for
stripping all the > out of emails but I tried it with a URL and it
does rejoin a broken URL. Get it at:-

Highlight then copy the broken URL then open eMailStripper and use the
"Paste" then "Strip It" buttons. If you are stripping a whole email
then use the "Copy" button to put the stripped email into the
clipboard. But if you are fixing a broken URL then it would be best to
highlight the bit of text that the program adds to the bottom:-

This email was cleaned by emailStripper, available for free from
http://www.papercut.biz/emailStripper.htm

then use the "Copy" button to get the reconstituted URL only into the
clipboard.
