Hey all,
I have a head scratcher.
I have a dell computer with XP SP2. I am using a USR 5699-02 internal
win modem.
When ever I try to dial out the modem always connects at 33600. Doesn't
matter what programs I use, it still connects at 33600. I can change all the
settings I can find, but it still connects at 33600. The only way I can stop
it is to go directly to the modem and enter the at commands to make it
connect at another baud.
I have looked at the modem settings in Dev Manager & Phone and Modem.
Tried changing these with no luck. I tried changing the baud in the programs
I use and it doesn't effect it. I can change emulation, stop and data, etc
and it will change, but not the baud.
Another suprising way to change it is to logout and then login as the
administrator. Then it will only connect at 14400 and nothing else.
I went into the AT setup on the modem and see that it is using the
command for viariable baud, but doesn't seem to matter. Checked the
computer's ini files and registry, but couldn't find any strings that might
be hidden.
Any one know if there is something I might be missing?
