Just installed SP2. Like to know if the Popup information bar is supposed
to show when popup adds occur? If so, it's not in my case. I can hear the
beeps that the popup adds are being blocked, but I'm not getting the
information bar.
The settings are default: The show information bar is checked and the
security setting for the popup is set to medium. Any info will be well
appreciated, thanks.

Thanks for the info below. I read those before and could not find the
answer to my situation. I don't know if it's by design and I'm not
understanding the concept or it's not working like it should.

I will go to a site, and when I click on a link, I hear a beep, that tells
me a popup was blocked. But the information bar did not show up. Why? It
was a popup add, how I know, is I clicked on that link again but this time
with the CTRL key pressed (override), and bingo, a popup window showed up.

As mentioned below, the settings are all set at default. Medium and show
information bar.

Search your registry for the DWORD UseSecBand. If set to zero, change to 1,
and vice versa.

Thanks Taurarian again for your time in sending these links, has valuable
information that I can use. However, I still found nothing about the
situation.

Is the Information Bar suppose showup on "ALL" blocked Popups or just the
ones that may cause some issues? I am getting the Information Bar on other
stuff, like when a site needs to install something. For example I went to
MS Office Update and before I could continue the Information Bar popped up
informing about the download it needs. So it is working, I just like to
know is it suppose to show 100% of the time when a popup is blocked???

Thanks,

MarkC

I Sandi, and thanks for info. I did a search and found it set at 1
(Actually two locations). I guess when you said vice-versa that means to
change the 1 to zero? Correct?

I didn't change anything yet because the Information Bar does show up, but
not 100% of all blocked popups. So here's my question: I like to know is
the Information bar suppose to showup 100% of the time when a popup is
blocked??? There's really no clear answer to this question that I can find
with all the links given here in this thread.

PS: I went to your website and tons of information, well done. I have it
has a favorite and I know it will come in handy. I do have another issue
after I installed SP2 that's effecting my desktop shortcut icons when login
in after a restart (boot). These icons using SP1 came up instantly when
logging in. What's happening after the SP2 upgrade, the desktop shortcut
icons are there, but not showing the program picture icon right away. The
hard drive is cranking, and little by little the shortcut icons starts
showing there true colors, their program link. I defragged, have 512MB of
ram, and have 80% hard drive free space. Do you know what could be causing
this or direct me to where I can find the answer? Thanks, MARKC

Do you have any other interfering software such as the Google toolbar
which also may block popups using a different UI?

No other toolbars in place, plain Jane...
